1) Indestructible DIY 1000 watt wind turbine
These guys got stuck into a project that made the indestructible list. The 1kw home brew wind turbine was built to help charge the battery bank that powers an off-grid home. There are step by step guides and and a heap of photos to guide you along the way.

2) Otherpower’s Large 17′ Homebrew Wind Turbine
This one is a massive17″ in diameter. At 10Mph the turbine pushed ot 400W while at a wind speed of 16Mph the power output climbed to 1.5Kw. At times the builder sees speeds of up to 2KW. Have a look at the photos and design over at Otherpower.
3) Smallwind’s MK1 Wind Turbine
It’s made out of timber and comes with CAD plans on how to build it. The MK1 design wasn’t up to the builders standard so he is currently building MK2. The builder is documenting his design with photos and drawings as he progresses so get on over to Smallwind.co.uk and have a look.
